About the Shopify Collection Image size
Shopify applies the same upload limits to collection images as to products, but never states a recommended collection size. How the image displays depends on the theme: a collection list shows cards, while a collection page may show a banner. Pick the theme section you are filling, read its aspect ratio or Height setting, and crop to match. Use a square when the theme shows square cards, and a wide crop when it shows a banner.
