When to Convert PNG to JPG
Photographs and Compatibility
JPG is broadly supported by websites, email clients, document tools, and photo software. It is often a practical target for an opaque photograph when the receiving workflow does not need PNG.
File Size Is Not Guaranteed
A photographic PNG often becomes smaller as JPG, but the result depends on dimensions, visual complexity, and selected quality. Logos, text, and flat graphics can look worse after JPG compression, so compare the actual preview and size.
What Changes During Conversion
Transparency Is Placed on White
JPG cannot store transparent pixels. The converter fills transparent and semi-transparent areas with white before writing the JPG, so inspect logos, cutouts, and shadows carefully.
JPG Uses Lossy Compression
The selected JPG quality trades encoded size for visible detail. Fine text, sharp edges, and gradients can develop artifacts, and converting back to PNG later will not recover information removed by JPG compression.
Local, Single-Image Processing
The current converter processes one image up to 10 MB in the browser. It shows the source and result sizes before download; keep the original PNG in case metadata, color, or edge detail changes.
