Why You Need a Raster Copy
SVG is a vector format: it describes shapes mathematically, so it scales to any size without losing sharpness. That makes it ideal for the web, but a lot of software cannot read it. Social platforms, marketplaces, presentation tools, messaging apps, and most photo editors expect pixels, which is why a PNG copy of your logo or icon is often required.
Why PNG Rather Than JPG
PNG is the right raster target for vector artwork. It is lossless, so hard edges and flat colour reproduce exactly, and it supports transparency, so a logo keeps its transparent background instead of being flattened onto white. JPG would blur the edges and fill the transparency.
How the Rasterization Works
Output Size Is Chosen For You
A vector has no inherent pixel size, so one has to be picked. The converter reads the width and height from the SVG, falling back to its viewBox ratio. If the resulting long edge is under 1024 px it is scaled up to 1024 px so the PNG is actually usable, and anything above 4096 px is capped to keep the file manageable.
Rendered in Your Browser
Your browser's own SVG renderer draws the vector to a canvas, which is then encoded as PNG. Nothing is uploaded. This also means the result matches how your browser displays the SVG.
Self-Contained Files Only
An SVG that pulls in external resources — a remote font, a linked bitmap, an external stylesheet — cannot be rasterized safely in the browser and will be rejected with a message. Embed those assets in the SVG, or convert with a desktop tool instead.
