YouTube recommends an 800 x 800 square for the channel profile picture. Twitch publishes a smaller 256 x 256 avatar size with a 200 x 200 minimum and downscales larger uploads, so 800 x 800 works there as a master rather than as the displayed size. One 800 x 800 export still covers both platforms — useful for creators who maintain matching branding across channels.
SoundCloud's Cover-Art Minimum
SoundCloud requires track artwork to be a square of at least 800 x 800 pixels. Smaller uploads are rejected; larger squares are accepted and downscaled. Cover art is often viewed small — in feeds and embedded players — so check that titles and artwork read clearly when the square is shrunk.
A Dependable Default Square
Above avatar territory but below product-master weight, 800 x 800 works for podcast tiles, community icons, and square posts on platforms without a published spec. For marketplace product listings, size up instead — Amazon's zoom feature needs at least 1,000 pixels on the longest side.
