How to add a border to a photo online?

Pick a color and set the border width from one to 15 percent of the shortest image edge.

Does the border cover part of my photo?
No. This editor expands the canvas and places the complete source image inside it. The photo itself is not cropped.
How is border width calculated?
The selected percentage is applied to the shortest image edge, then the same number of pixels is added to all four sides.
Can I make a white border for printing or social posts?
Yes. White is the default, and the color picker supports any other solid color your browser can represent.
Does Instasize upload my image to process this effect?
No. This editor decodes, renders, and encodes the image in your current browser tab. The file only leaves your device if you choose a separate upload or sharing action afterward.
What file will I download?
The current browser editor exports a PNG. PNG keeps the result predictable across supported browsers and preserves transparent corners when the effect creates them.
