Does removing EXIF data reduce image quality?

JPEG and WebP files are decoded and encoded again at a high quality setting, so pixels and file size can change. PNG pixel encoding is lossless, although the file is newly encoded.

Will the cleaned image keep the correct orientation?

The browser decodes the displayed orientation into the new pixel layout before export. Inspect the cleaned download because browser and source-file behavior can vary.

Does removing metadata make a photo anonymous?

No. It can remove hidden location, device, date, and creator fields, but faces, text, addresses, reflections, and landmarks can still identify a person or place.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. This metadata remover reads and re-encodes the selected file locally.

Can I remove metadata from HEIC or TIFF files?

Not in the current remover. It accepts JPG/JPEG, PNG, and WebP up to 10 MB because current browsers can decode and export those formats reliably.

Re-encoding through the browser canvas removes readable EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC, camera, serial-number, creator, and capture fields. A browser may still write structural data needed to decode the file.
