Speed Up or Slow Down an Animated GIF
Make a GIF faster or slower by changing its frame delays. Keep the original dimensions and frame count, then preview the new timing.
Change Timing Without Dropping Frames
Faster means shorter delays
A 2x multiplier halves each frame delay, so the complete animation finishes in about half the time. A 0.5x multiplier doubles delays and makes the GIF play for about twice as long.
Frames and dimensions stay the same
This tool changes timing rather than sampling. Every frame remains in the sequence at the original width and height, subject to the practical minimum delay browsers use for very fast GIFs.
Preview the Real Playback
Very fast delays are clamped
Browsers commonly clamp tiny GIF delays. The encoder uses a 20 millisecond minimum so an extreme speed setting behaves more predictably across viewers.
Re-encoding can change file size
Changing only timing does not guarantee the same byte count because the animation is encoded again. The source and output sizes are shown after processing.

How do I make a GIF play faster?
Choose a multiplier above 1x. For example, 2x divides every frame delay by two and makes the animation finish in roughly half the time.
How do I slow down a GIF?
Choose 0.75x, 0.5x, or 0.25x. A 0.5x multiplier doubles the frame delays and roughly doubles the playback duration.
Does changing speed remove frames?
No. This speed tool keeps every supported frame and changes its delay. Use the compressor if you intentionally want to sample fewer frames.
Is the animation processed privately?
Yes. Frame timing is read and rewritten in your browser without uploading the GIF.
