Export each tile at 1080×1440 (3:4), 1080×1350 (4:5), or 1080×1080 (1:1). Instagram currently preserves supported photo ratios from 1.91:1 through 3:4.
Files Numbered in Posting Order
Instagram places the newest post at the top-left of the profile grid, so the ZIP starts with the bottom-right tile and ends with the top-left tile.
How to make a 3×3 Instagram grid from one photo?

Step 1: Upload the full grid image
Choose a sharp JPG, PNG, or WebP source with enough detail to remain clear after it is divided.

Step 2: Choose the grid and post shape
Select 3, 6, 9, or 12 posts and choose 3:4 portrait, 4:5 portrait, or square tiles.

Step 3: Review the center crop
Check the grid overlay because the source is center-cropped to the combined shape of all tiles.

Step 4: Post in numbered order
Download the ZIP and publish upload 01 first. Continue in order so the completed mural lands in the intended profile positions.
