How to create a color palette from an image?

Step 1: Choose a Source Image
Upload one JPG, PNG, or WebP file up to 20 MB. A clear image with the colors you care about will produce a more useful palette.

Step 2: Generate the Palette
The browser samples visible pixels, groups similar colors, and selects six representative colors while ignoring mostly transparent pixels.

How are the palette colors selected?
The tool downsamples the preview, groups nearby RGB colors into buckets, ranks them by frequency, and keeps visually separated representatives. It is a practical summary rather than an inventory of every color.
Does the palette generator upload my photo?
No. Pixel sampling and color grouping run locally in your browser, and the image is not transmitted to a server.
Why does my palette differ from another color extractor?
Palette extraction has no single correct answer. Tools can use different sampling sizes, clustering methods, distance thresholds, and treatment of shadows or highlights, which produces different representative colors.
Are transparent areas included?
Pixels that are more than half transparent are ignored so a transparent canvas does not dominate the result. Visible and semi-opaque pixels can still contribute.
Can I use the palette as a brand palette?
You can use it as a starting point, but check contrast, accessibility, print behavior, and consistency across images before treating sampled colors as a final brand system.
