Does Instasize upload my image for OCR?

No. This tool runs recognition in your browser. The OCR engine and selected language data download to the browser, but the source image is not posted to an Instasize recognition endpoint.

Which languages does the OCR tool support?

You can select English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, or Italian printed text. Choose the main language in the image before starting recognition.

Does OCR preserve tables, columns, fonts, and formatting?

No. The result is plain text in the reading order estimated by the OCR engine. Tables, columns, font styles, colors, and exact positioning may be flattened or read in the wrong order.

Can it read handwriting?

The engine is optimized for printed text. Clear block handwriting may produce partial results, but cursive and informal handwriting are not reliably supported.

How can I improve OCR accuracy?

Use a sharp, upright image with even lighting, strong contrast, and text large enough to read. Remove glare and perspective distortion, crop unrelated areas, select the correct language, and proofread every result.

Is the OCR result guaranteed to be correct?

No. OCR can confuse letters, punctuation, columns, and numbers. Review names, totals, dates, account numbers, legal text, medical text, and other important content against the source.
