A low grain setting adds fine texture without covering faces, lettering, or product details. Increase it only when the rougher film look is part of the composition.

What is film grain?
Film grain is visible texture created by light-sensitive particles in photographic film. Digital grain effects imitate that irregular brightness variation to make a clean digital image feel more tactile or analog.
Does this filter change the colors in my photo?
No. It applies the same brightness variation to the red, green, and blue channels, creating monochrome texture without intentionally shifting the hue.
How much grain should I add?
Start around the lower third of the slider and inspect the image at its final display size. Strong grain can work for a deliberate lo-fi style, but it can obscure skin, small type, and product detail.
Is film grain the same as image noise?
They look related, but image noise is usually an unwanted capture artifact while film grain is often used intentionally as texture. This tool adds a controlled creative effect; it does not repair noisy photos.
