For those who don’t know, Phoenix is home to over 1.6 million folks, making it the 5th most populous city in the United States. The so-called Valley of the Sun of the southwest is also home to ultrasunny days, brick red desert parks, trendy coffee shops, and neon-lit nightlife scenes—making the city rife with picturesque spots perfect for a little side trip and a snap for the ‘gram.
1. Papago Park
Into hikes, deserts, and outdoorsy scenes? Then make sure to stop by Papago Park. It’s perfectly located just on the outskirts of the city with great hiking trails, great views, and a number of IG-worthy spots.
Hole in the RockIf it were possible to view the city from a window, this rock formation would be it. The open chamber overlooks nearby lagoons and the downtown skyline, turning your view into a picture-perfect backdrop, especially during golden hour at sunset.
Desert Botanical GardenIf you want to sneak in a few desert shots, this garden would be the perfect place to do so. Not only do you have an abundance of rust-colored sand around you, you also get to play around with the punch of green from cacti that grow way past your head.
2. Ruze Cake House
When it comes to finding photo ops for the ‘gram, the only problem you’ll have at this place is having too many! Drop by to get your fill of cute cakes, quirky drinks, and fresh, modern interiors, all in one delicious serving.
3. The Saguaro
Palm trees, pink flamingos, and you, chilling poolside with an ice-cold drink in hand on a warm afternoon. Like how that sounds? Well, you’ll definitely like how it looks here, too.
4. Red Rock State Park (Sedona)
Although a little bit farther away from the city, a day trip to the park is definitely worth it. Capture the vivid contrast between the bright blue of the sky and the rusty red of the rocks during the middle of the day, or watch fire come to life as the setting sun hits the horizon.
5. Camelback Mountain
Willing to work a little for your shots? Go on a short hike up the mountain and take more desert pics with a great panoramic view of the city. Well worth the effort, we think.
6. Lola Coffee Bar
Take a break from all the sightseeing with a cup of arguably the best coffee in town. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that you’ve got gorgeous wooden interiors around you, either. Maybe snap a few shots in between sips?
7. Wildlife World Zoo and Aquarium
If not for your feed or followers, visit the zoo for your own fun. Who doesn’t want visit animals to feed them or just hang?
8. The Henry
If brunch is your thing (or any other meal, to be honest), then the Henry is your place. They’ve staked their claim on the title “The Greatest Neighborhood Restaurant,” and for good reason, it seems. Their menu is comprised of A+ comfort food favorites, while the vibe of the place is hip, modern, and understated cool. Stop by for a picture, stay for the food.
9. Diego Pops
Got margaritas on your mind? Thinking ‘bout tacos? Have a taste of Mexico in the Phoenix heat and stop by Diego Pops for shots of tequila and shots for the ‘gram.
10. The Bosque at Pueblo
Plants always make for a pretty picture—and a great souvenir of your stay in the southwest! Snap a pic and take home a few pots and planters to remember your trip by.
